Hi folks,
<Groan> Three problems already... fortunately, all readily fixed:
First, the program used to download assorted data was linked to
"debug" .DLLs. Worked fine on my system, but I'd wager that 99%
of you found (as did SebastiĆ Torrell Vila) that all of Guide's
ability to download data was gone.
Going back to the older 'gsc22.exe' would be only a partial solution;
the new B1.0 and 2MASS downloads would still not work.
Second, as John Greaves pointed out, the new 'toolbar.dat' does
_not_ include a button to download 2MASS data.
And third, the 'gsc22.tdf' file used to show all four downloadable
datasets wasn't updated.
You can fix all three problems by re-downloading
http://www.gwi.net/~pluto/guide8.zip (617861 bytes)
If you've already downloaded it, you can just grab the (much smaller)
http://www.gwi.net/~pluto/guide8_b.zip (16102 bytes)
which will fix the three "broken" files from the original.
Don, I just checked, and don't see any reason Guide shouldn't
be able to handle COM5 and COM6. For the nonce, you'll have to edit
startup.mar and look for this line:
42 lx200 pr x
...where 'x'=currently selected COM port for scope control. Change
that to 5 or 6 and save it, and Guide will use that port.
Please let me know if this works. If it does, I'll add options for
COM5 and 6 to the scope control dialog right away. If it doesn't, I'll
have to puzzle out why it doesn't work, fix it, and _then_ add options
for these ports to the dialog.
