Guide 7 in XP

Bill J Gray Feb 28, 2003

Hi Hans,

The only "known problem" Guide 7 has with WinXP is in telescope
control. And if you're using the last-posted Guide 7 software, even
that problem is fixed.

The error is _probably_ not in the CD itself. It's rare (though not
unheard of) for CDs to malfunction that way; usually, you get some
sort of "Abort, Retry, Fail?" message, rather than having bad data
copied over silently. I usually cannot blame Microsoft for causing
my software to crash, nor can I blame bad CDs. Most of the time,
crashes turn out to have something to do with my software. (Which
isn't entirely a bad thing. I can fix my software. I can't "fix" Microsoft.)

It's not clear to me exactly where you ran into the problem. So...
to narrow down where the problem might be:

When you installed Guide 7 to the WinXP box, before adding the
update file from the Web site, did the program run properly?

When you installed the update from the Web site, did the program
run properly?

Did the program only misbehave after copying everything to the hard
drive? Did it run OK for a while, but then start to misbehave?

What sort of "problem" do you have in starting the software? (Does
it crash? Draw odd things on-screen? Hang?)
