If you want to 're-associate', (now that's an old phrase), your DAT
files;

1) single left click the DAT file to highlight it
2) press and hold SHIFT then
3) RIGHT click the file
4) Click on OPEN WITH in the Selection List
5) Click the ALWAYS OPEN WITH Check Box in the file association list
6) scroll to NOTEPAD and Double Left Click

That will re-associate all file extensions of DAT to Notepad
permanently unless you go through the same process and choose another app to
open the file. Notepad will not do as Excel does...joe :)
