I had a similiar situation a little while back where I wanted to run
guide on my desktop and laptop without having to change CDs on the
laptop(Guide 8 in on two CDs). The desktop had plenty of disk space
but the laptop was very limited. What I did was to do a full install
of the CDs onto the desktop and a minimal install on the laptop. On
the desktop I setup the guide directory for file sharing so it could
be seen as a drive on the laptop. On the laptop I changed the
startup.mar file to point to the shared network "Guide" drive instead
of the CD drive. In this setup each PC has a local copy of the
startup.mar file for settings. You may need to check with Bill on his
license agreement for installing on multiple machines before trying
this solution.
