A bunch of DSS questions

Hello everyone, I am fairly new to the whole "DSS image" thing, and
have a few questions. If anyone can answer any of them I'd
appreciate it.
1) I have used software which will merge .fit images into mosiacs,
but these merged images do not display in Guide. I was wondering if
there was any way to display mosiacs, so that we could display an
image bigger than the max values set on the DSS retrieval sites.
2) Is there a way to open more than one image at once? If I have a
bunch of saved .fit files that I want to display, do I have to go
through each one individually?
3) Is there a way to clear a single .fit image, rather than having to
delete all of them?
4) Is there a way to change the default contrast for .fit images? I
changed the environ.dat file, but new images continue to be loaded
at "1000,11000".
5) When DSS images are downloaded into Guide, are there extra files
stored in the Guide directory? I know about the 00xx.fit files, but
what are the x.B32 files? Were those there before? Are they related
to DSS image retrieval?
Anyways, that's all the questions I have for now. And if it makes a
difference, I'm using Guide 7.0, not 8.0. Thanks.
