Just a couple of clarifications:

The trick Joe Mize mentions of editing 'startup.mar', and changing
the drive letter to point to a new drive, will indeed work. But you should
really only use it in situations where your CD-ROM drive letter actually
moves (which can happen if you add in a new hard drive, for example.)
In your case, where the data really _is_ installed to the hard drive,
use of the A2_PATH= statement in 'guide.dat' is the way to go,
since it allows you to display A2.0 data simply by zooming in on it.

Also: it is _possible_ that the current Guide 8 software update
would work with your Guide 7 disk, but I'd hate to swear to it. If you
try this, be sure to back up your Guide 7 files first. Odds are good
that some change I've made since Guide 8 came out has "broken"
backward-compatibility with Guide 7.

If you do this, I'd first update using the last-posted Guide 7 software.
(That alone might be enough to fix the 'install to hard drive' problem,
since I did a lot of work with that function before Guide 8 came out.)

BTW, I'm mostly caught up on fixing assorted bugs reported on
and off-list, and should update the 'test' Guide8 shortly (or may decide
I'm confident enough to make it a "for-real" update on the usual page.)
