PS troubles/satellites/etc.
Bill J Gray Nov 21, 2002
Hi folks,
Julian, the only program I've got that reads PostScript files is
GhostScript (and GhostView). I _think_ PhotoShop can read
them as well, and maybe Illustrator. Anybody know of other
programs that read either PS or EPS files?
I recently realized that the latest version of GNU GhostScript
is capable of turning PS files into quite nice PDF files. At some
point, I may attempt to put a "Make PDF File" function into
Guide, which will really do nothing more than make a PS file,
then start up GhostScript to do the conversion. (Keeping in
mind that this will require people to download and install the
current GS.)
Thanks for the pointer on the 'cancel' button in 'go to satellite'.
I've fixed this.
Rafael, be warned that the /xoff and /yoff will be rewritten for
subsequent PostScript files, because they (and the /xclip and
/yclip values) are based on the "Settings... Margins" values.
Adjusting those values from within Guide is probably the better
way to tweak the placement on the page.
"...As the PS are now EPS compilant there are any need for a
margin!..." Thanks for mentioning this: I don't have any program
that actually reads EPS, so I dunno how compliant it is.
(GhostScript just regards the EPS data as comments, and
does still need the margin data.)
I appreciate the details on the isophote troubles; you've given
me enough info so that I've a good idea as to where I should look
to fix the problem.
Also... I've gotten an inquiry about posts to this list being bounced
with "this list is moderated, your message will not appear until passed
by the moderator". That's not supposed to happen. If anyone else
has seen this, please let me know; I'd like to have as much info as
possible before attempting to get Yahoogroups to do anything.
