"R Mon" is a variable star designation. Variable stars in a constellation
are named "R", "S", "T", ..., "Z", "RR", "RS", ... , "RZ", and so on. This
naming system gives 334 variable star names per constellation; if more are
needed they're called "V335", "V336", etc.
