Bug?/aperture shutoff/full-screen/mag limit/Wine
Bill J Gray Sep 23, 2002
Hi folks,
First off... I've gotten an inquiry via private e-mail about
crashes in the "go to planet" and "quick info" functions. If anyone
else has seen this and/or has spotted some pattern in how it happens,
please let me know via private e-mail. I'm at somewhat of a loss to
explain it right now, since both functions work fine on my machine.
Roger, to turn off a given aperture circle, right-click on it,
then on "Display". (This also will allow you to reset its diameter
and/or color at the same time.)
Arild, thanks for the comment on the menu bar/full screen problem.
I'm expecting this will affect NT and, perhaps, XP users as well.
I did some Google searching for relevant pieces of C/C++ code, and
found something that (I think) will fix the problem.
I obviously misunderstood the intention of the "upper mag limit"
idea. I should be able to revise the code a bit to accommodate this
method (which makes much more sense to me; truthfully, the idea
of omitting bright stars completely seemed very strange to me!)
James, there have been a few people reporting success in running
Guide with Wine in Linux. Getting a Windows program to run in Linux
through Wine has been likened to a translation from Chinese to English
done by someone who speaks only Farsi, but at least in the case
of Guide, it appears to be okay.
