Hi everyone:

I hope this group gets advertised more, as I just stumbled across it on
the Project Pluto page.

Bill, I have a couple requests from a visual observer:

1. Amalthea--this is listed in the possible Guide upgrades, and I don't
understand why a near circular orbit is more difficlut. Jeff Medkeff
says he has seen this Jovian moon in a 14" scope. With all the catalogs
out there I think it would be nice to say that Guide can show every
object visible in say a 20-25" scope. By the way, I used Guide for my
observation of Himalia in the Dec S+T, but its name got edited out :-)

2. Cometary Globules. Look at David Malin's picture at
http://www.aao.gov.au/AAO/local/www/dfm/aat071.html
PGC 21338 is listed in Guide, and you can actually see the outline of
the nebula by looking at the lack of stars in the region. Most of these
may be difficult targets, but they are interesting.

3. Datasets--you should talk to Brian Skiff at Lowell observatory, he
has some interesting ideas on how to combine datasets and reduce
extraneous catalog entries. He is a real stickler with this stuff, but
if you could address his criticisms of current software programs using
LEDA etc. I think the program would be better.
