For a couple of years I've used Guide7 along with a notebook computer to control a NexStar8 scope through a normal "serial" port. Now I've changed the computer and since it has no COM port I'm using a USB to RS232 adaptor. The problem is that Guide8 doesn't seem to work: when trying to slew the scope nothing happens and when reading the scope position a message saying "Position unread" pops up.
Oddly enough, I can control the scope (both ways) with other programs (such as NexStar Observer List).
