From the replies to my original message it is pretty clear that the
ability to continuously track a scope's position is not a feature of
Guide, rather than a mistake on my behalf.
I can't come up with a strong reason why this feature should be added
to Guide, other than the fact that I like it, and it is one of the
reasons why I use both SkyMap Pro and Guide8.
As an aside to Chris Marriott (this isn't really the right forum for
discussing a Guide competitor): I've been unable to make the auto-
centered scope tracking work with SkyMap Pro 6. At the end of a slew
the program locks up trying to access some HD data (?), so I only use
it without the redraw (ie scope position cross moves).
Anyway, both Guide and Skymap are great programs and our hobby would
be a lot poorer without either of them.

Guide was somehow "defective" in this way. To be perfectly honest, I
rarely have SkyMap's "Auto Track" feature switched on, because I
personally find it confusing to have the star chart constantly
redrawing itself as the telescope moves! It was a feature I added
(like most features) at the request of my users, and some people do
find it useful. Perhaps it might be something Bill could add as an
option to Guide?
