Hello Bill,
I'm very puzzled. I have activated the coloured stars and the blured star
options. Also, I have uncheked the non stars one and have a saturation of
40% on colour. Then when I have see a extraneous behaivour in guide. The
clear way to reproduce it is going to Sigma Orionis. The at each zoom level
I see a diferent group of stars:
At Level 7: I see a big pale blue star (Sigma Orionis, spectra B0) and two
supperposed stars: one pale blue (V 1030 Ori, spectra B3) and other deep red
(HIP 26551, spectra B0).
At Level 8: The red stars disapear. I see only two supperposed stars over
the big one (I suspect that this big one is Sigma Ori itself from the
Brighter Calaloge one). I also can see two cyan stars north of sigma. The
right click info shows to me that this are "Artifacts". I have expected that
an Artifact dissapear with the non star checkbox uncheked. There are also a
pure green star identified as 4771 1087 without spectral data. Why are this
star green?.
At level 9: the same stars, more artifacts.
At level 10: the same stars, a lot of artifacts.
At level 11: The background Sigma Ori have disapeared. Now I can see the
three main components. Hip 26551 shows deep red ;-).
Until this moment I was working with Guide in non colour, non outline mode
and all this extraneous behaviour was hidden. Now with all the realism on
the display all this is very oviously.
