:-) no you couldn't do that "from any computer in the world". You
could for instance not do it from the computer I'm writing this post
on, since it lacks a GUI. I'm dialling up a shell accound on a
Free-BSD machine from here, and I read my mail and news that way. If
this mail-list would be replaced by something web-based, then I could
not read that from this computer.....

Sorry, but not everyone in the world use the same kind of computer as
you do....
