To 'permanently' assign a single drive letter to your CD Drive so it doesn't jump
around:

Win95/98:
1) Right Mouse click My Computer
2) Select Properties
3) Select the Device Manager tab
4) Expand the CD Drive
5) Highlight your CD Drive
(if you have 2 or more drives (CD/CDR-W/DVD) perform same
task on each)
6) Select Properties
7) Select Settings
8) Go to Current Drive Letter Assignments
9) Make your CD drive letter in the 'Ranges' boxes the same as specified
for the drive
(Current letter, Start Letter box, End Letter box)
10) Click OK
