Epsilon Lyr

B. Hudgens Mar 28, 2002

Hi,

Since we solved the large "X" problem for the asteroids, I haven't had much to say lately ;)

However, I came across the following problem and wonder if anyone sees it the same way or maybe I just have some setting not quite right. Using the current version of Guide 8 Mar 25.

When you zoom in on the 'double-double' in Lyra (Epsilon) only Epsil 1 separates into two stars. Epsil 2 remains as a single star. ??? In Guide 7 both members displayed as double stars. What is different in Guide 8 ?? Maybe a different star catalogue is being used ?? There may be other cases where this is happening on double star display, but haven't come across them yet.

I am giving a 'show and tell' next week to our astronomy club and had planned to use Epsilon Lyrae as an example of the detail that Guide will show.

Any help/solutions most appreciated.

Thanks, Ben Hudgens Memphis, TN
