The only real advantage of the Win 3.x version is that it has the same
user interface as the 32-bit Windows version. I have not regularly
updated the UI of the DOS version, so there are a lot of cases if
you want to (say) change the fields of view or labelling or color of
a user-added dataset, you're out of luck. (Though you _can_
fire up a Windows version of Guide, make such changes, and
see them reflected when you next start up the DOS version.)

Andrew, about novae: the only list I've found of these objects is at

"A Reference Catalogue of Galactic Novae (Duerbeck 1988)".
Obviously, there have been a lot of novae found since then, but
the Usually Reliable Sources, ADC (Astronomical Data Center) and
CdS (Strasbourg Data Centre) don't say anything about this.

I'll hold off on writing a .TDF to display this dataset, on the
chance that further digging may turn up a more current list of novae.
