[guide-user] Scope control

Scope Control:
Whether it be LX200 or some other format, continous RA & DEC positions
as well as rates from guide would help track satelites. I'd be
very happy to assist in any which way I can to test and trouble shoot
this postential guide feature. This goes for the mechanical compensation
scheme as well. In fact, if the requisite code in guide itself would need
some testing with some form of build not requiring all the code
(ie: obj and dll), I'd happily write and test the guide end of it.
Whether this is possible, I am certain Bill will inform us. Further,
I am certain many in the e-group would do likewise. Is there a
chance it could be so?
Tracking satelites (Greg Roberts):
BillDoze BMPs are quite large if they are colour (x3 a mono version).
They may also be compressed, although I doubt the manufacturere of your
device would have done so. Further, you have to spend the time loading
the file to process it. This could add considerable time to the position
measurement and subsequent lag in tracking. Mind you, with careful
estimation (rates and change in rates), you could reduce this lag. The
best though would be to have access to the CCD data first hand. Is there
any way to write your own routines to receive the CCD data directly? I
am also interested in tracking these beasts. The only thing that worries
me is that after I've done so, the interest will wane quickly as you can
track only so many satelites as opposed to studying variables, comets,
etc. I've already written routines to read my CCD and track
a star for auto-guiding. It was a lot of fun! I've achieved about 8
samples per second on stars about 8 to 9 mag with a 486 DX33, if
memory recalls...
