RE: [guide-user] Downloading data on WinXP machines?
Antonio Alves Dec 11, 2001
Hi Bill and all,
I run on windows 98 and cable network, however I hope this info could help.
Downloading of both A2.0 and GSC2.2, work fine, and is a great feature.
Pressing DSS key initiated a task process, but it became stacked, moreover
if we press again the key, a new task process is initiated but also stay
stacked and not responding. I need to end manually the DSS tasks.
Another different mater that will be nice to have is an option to go back
and
that I miss a lot is the possibility to return to the last sky chart
position, when inadvertently we press the wrong mouse button,
the alt-B key is supposed to do that but only show the Tables!
Clear Skies for all
Happy New Year

Hi folks,
I've run into a little hitch with Guide 8 that really has me scratching
my head
in bewilderment. If anybody has tried out the various functions for
accessing
data in Guide through the Internet while running on WinXP, please let me
know. (By this, I mean the "Get A2.0 data via Internet", "Get GSC-2.2
data
via Internet", and "Get DSS image via Internet.")
The first two are implemented as a separate console application,
started
up by Guide when you click on the "get whatever" button. I'm getting a
nasty
feeling that WinXP doesn't like the idea of spawning applications. If
that's true,
it could leave me in a rather dire situation.
The problem may also crop up on Win2000 machines, and possibly on NT
boxes. If the functions work in the currently uploaded version of Guide
7, then
I can be sure they'll work in Guide 8 as well (same code in both cases).
Anybody got a comment?
Thanks! -- Bill
