Running Guide 7 on Windows 2000, the "Get GSC 2.2 data via Internet" seems to work, but the other two processes do not appear to, if I am trying to use them correctly. Not much at all seems to happen when I try to get the A2 data, while the screen freezes for a while when I try to Get the DSS image, but nothing ever gets displayed. I have a DSL Internet connection.

By the way, why does NCG 404 show up twice, as two different objects, once as a galaxy and once as a diffuse nebula when the field is 1 degree or smaller?

I've run into a little hitch with Guide 8 that really has me scratching
my head
in bewilderment. If anybody has tried out the various functions for accessing
data in Guide through the Internet while running on WinXP, please let me
know. (By this, I mean the "Get A2.0 data via Internet", "Get GSC-2.2 data

The first two are implemented as a separate console application, started
up by Guide when you click on the "get whatever" button. I'm getting a nasty
feeling that WinXP doesn't like the idea of spawning applications. If
that's true,
it could leave me in a rather dire situation.

The problem may also crop up on Win2000 machines, and possibly on NT
boxes. If the functions work in the currently uploaded version of Guide
7, then
I can be sure they'll work in Guide 8 as well (same code in both cases).

Anybody got a comment?
