Brian, you're right about the GZip problem. It happened because I
failed to add in the GZIP386.EXE program Guide "spawns" to decompress
the images. You can grab it from
http://www.projectpluto.com/gzip386.exe
Many of you probably saw no such problem, because I _did_ include
this in one of my earlier RealSky/DSS-related .ZIPs.
Steve, I have no real knowledge of the KERNEL32 error. I'm not
especially amazed at it... I've just not heard any comments from anyone
about it for a long time. I thought it had been vanquished. Perhaps
you're not using the current version of the software?
Andrea, about the 'orientation' in the legend: the compass symbol
really ought to do this for you. It has the added advantage of making
it very clear which way is east and which is north... which can be
especially helpful when the chart is both mirrored and rotated. I
suppose I could go one step further and have the "mirrored" compass
symbol show a mirror-image E and N... some people, myself included,
would find this more helpful than annoying; others, I suspect, would
wonder if the compass was being shown in Cyrillic. (A mirror-image 'N'
looks much like the letter for a 'long-e' sound in Russian.)
You can change the font used for _everything_ on the chart with the
'screen font' and 'printer font' options in Display. One of my long-range
goals is to have display of practically everything controllable through
the sort of dialog used for user-added datasets, in which one can set
color, zoom levels seen at, magnitude limits, labels shown, etc.
I'd then revise this so that (a) the colors could be any RGB value, not
just one of 13 fixed colors and (b) the font could be selected. But
right now... one font fits all.
Richard, about the planetary maps from David Seal's site: I have
wound up using some public-domain versions of these. I think the
non-flat lunar map you're describing is the default one in Guide (the
one you get if you don't swap to the Clementine image). It's a much
nicer-looking map; its only drawback is that it has so little
detail. It will still be the default map in Guide 8, because the
Clementine bitmap will be on the second CD-ROM.
