I've just posted updated software that provides two new functions:
a way to change the symbols used for deep-sky objects (and a few
other symbols), and a way to request a DSS image filling the current
screen.

The page mentions _three_ new functions, including the "get
GSC-2.2 data to fill the screen" function, but this last is
actually a few months old. I mentioned it on this list, then failed
to mention it on the site... which is a shame, since it's a pretty
nifty function. I still find it a little astonishing that I can
zoom in on a region, click a button, wait a bit, and see detailed
GSC-2.2 data pop up in the background. Jean-Noel Moreau suggested
that being able to do the same sort of thing with DSS data would be
a Good Idea, which prompted me to add that function.

(I was tempted to fall into my habit of waiting to add Just One
More Feature when I found that ESO provides a site allowing downloading
of USNO A2.0 data, in a manner that would let Guide access it much as
it does GSC-2.2 data from the STScI server, i.e., click a button in
Guide and you'll get A2.0 data in the background. I probably _will_ take
a few hours out to do this, eventually.)

Assorted bugs, including the "missing Jovian satellites" mentioned
by Jari and Owen, are also fixed. (That wasn't due to a file not
being copied, by the way, but due to Guide insisting on looking at
the CD-ROM. Thanks for catching that bug.)

Beta testers for Guide 8 may be wondering if I've vanished. I expect
be sending out an e-mail to you all later today. The short version is
that things are going pretty well; no major bugs reported (at least,
none that I've not already fixed). Aside from a bit of "grunt work" in
updating the help system and manual, it's almost a go.
