It semms same problem I had long days ago.
One question. Did you executed "Install nard drive" option ?
If you just install fron CD, Guide needs CD every time.
Without CD, Guide run strangely.

If you want to run Guide, sometime only some feature on hard drive,
and sometime full feature with CD-ROM,
you need to execute "Install hard drive" option.
This option allow you to run Guide with/without CD-ROM.

"Install hard drive" option is in [Extras] .
