From a few dealings with some UK military friends (Royal Engineers) quite a
number of years ago, and our respective odd names (comparitively) for
different things, I think we refer to the same object.

It was quite amusing at first getting used to the way each other talked,
especially with slang terms and normal everyday words that meant something
completely different to the others. We had the most trouble understanding
almost everything the Scot said, but the Brits told us not to worry - they
didn't understand him either!
