"Mystery star" has many names

Bill J. Gray Jul 10, 2001

A brief follow-up: the 'missing' star near LINEAR (2001 A2) is
known as BU Cet, HIP 2762, GSC 4675 1216 3, 13 Ceti, Yale 142,
PPM 182410, and SAO 128839. I didn't mention the alternative
designations previously because, while Tycho-2 fixed the magnitude
problem, it didn't add a cross-ID to other catalogs. I didn't catch
on to the alternative designations until Tom mentioned them in his post.
Despite the various names being used, we _are_ all discussing the same
star, and it exists properly in all catalogs save Tycho-1.
