Yep, I've noticed the same thing last night (I thought a moment my
Mars-images were pretty weird: they really didn't match the Guide-image :-).

Bitmap 2 seems correct indeed, and is probably the same as the one used by
"Mars Previewer" (downloaded at Sky&Telescope).
And that software has a bug too: image is mirrored (east<->west)
