Re: messages jamais vus

Jean-Paul,
Excuse this bad translation. I haven't spoken French regularly for over
30 years!

(I am using Guide to make some charts of variable stars, and I have just
noticed something I have never seen before. When I right-click the mouse
on a star there appears the following message (examples):
V646 Aql : Go to .TDF Object
AM CAS : Go to level 1 9
V702 Aql : Enter Galactic coords
Who can tell me what these correspond to? Thanks in advance. The answer
can be done in English.)

Hmmm...your attached images were removed by YahooGroups, and you don't
say which version of Guide you are using.
Those messages are from the English text of Guide's built-in help system.
They should never appear when you right-click an object. Strange....
I would first check if your mouse is faulty (or dirty inside). Do you get
unexpected mouse behaviour in other programs?
Another possibility is a damaged or missing STRINGS.FRA file, which would
cause Guide to use English. Or Guide.exe itself may be damaged by a virus
or a faulty hard disk.
Do you always get the same message appearing for a particular star? For
example does AM Cas always show "go to level 19", regardless of the
number of objects you have right-clicked before? If true, then maybe the
comments for your variable stars have been replaced by parts of Guide's
help text? This could also be caused by a faulty disk or a virus.
A wierd problem with no obvious cure! It might be easier to reinstall
Guide, after a thorough check for viruses and disk problems....
cheers,
