Dear Mr Gray,
Some questions about Guide. I use 23 januray 2001 version.
1. I remember that a long time ago, the side labels in right ascension (and
longitude) appeared at the top of the map and were written horizontally. Now
they appear at the bottom of the screen and are vritten vertically. So they
are more difficult to read. I was not sure, but I believed that the change
happened when I changed the screen font. So I considered the files updated
when Guide is used. I saw that it is the case for the file maximum.dat. So I
renamed this file. Guide didn't find it the next time and the layout had the
labels at the top of the screen. I just enterd in the screen font dialog box
and exited with OK and the problem rose again. As the maximum.dat file is a
binary one, I don't know what to do to fix the problem. Can you help ?
2. I find very useful to have the galaxies, clusters, nebulae, and so on,
displayed at scale, when the zoom level is appropriate. But they are only
from level 6 and higher. At level 5 and lower they are not displayed at
scale, whatever the mode I use (on, fixed, auto, with even a high value for
the limiting magnitude). Even the Hyades or M31(and ohter great objects)
don't display; howerver, they are great enough to almost fill the screen at
level 5. On the other hand, I find that the open cluster symbol for the
Pleiades is never displayed. Is it possible to fix that ?
3. I use to print maps in landscape mode. But each day I use Guide, the
print mode has become back to portait mode. Is it possible for Guide to
remind this option ?
4. Any news about the release date for version 8 ?
Sincerely,
Laurent Zimmermann
