Using a mapped drive really shouldn't be a problem.

What's in z:\ucac4? (It should either contain a lot of
files of the form znnn, where nnn is a three-digit number;
and/or it should contain a subdirectory, z:\ucac4\u4b,
which contains a lot of znnn files. If you have the entire
UCAC4 dataset, the znnn files ought to add up to about 8 GBytes.)

The z:\a2 directory should contain 24 files of the form
nnnn.cat, where nnnn=0000, 0730, 1500, etc. There may also
be 24 nnnn.acc files, but that's not essential.

If you click on Extras... Toggle User-Added Datasets, you
should see "UCAC4" listed. Click on that, and make sure it's
turned On. Check the 'show at' levels; if you've got UCAC4
set to show at fields of view from, say, 0 to 1.5 degrees,
it won't be show at (say) a field of view of 2 degrees.
