I never used URAT. But look at this link: http://www.astrosurf.com/c2a/english/information.htm

Scroll down, in the right column, within the pink frame at the bottom, the following is said:

"The index files v1index.asc and v1index.unf must be present in the same folder as the data files".

You said, you only downloaded part of the URAT 1 files. Do you have the above two files in your URAT folder ?

I would further switch "off" all other catalogues in "Extras\User data files" und only switch them "on" again when URAT is working.

You could further delete all lines concerning star catalogues [beginning with DLG ... (something)] in guide.dat and redo the "alt J" thing for URAT only.

For the time beeing, I have no ther ideas !
