Thanks, Rudi.  I will work on this as soon as I get a block of time--probably not until this weekend.  Thanks for the suggestions, and I will report back.

I downloaded the UCAC4 files directly from Vizier and put them in the c:/guide9 main directory in a folder named ucac4.  Maybe I should have gotten them through Guide as you suggest?  Will have to try that.
