Hi Frank, hi Roger,
yes, I made a file of exoplanets for GUIDE in the past. But these files were "hand-made" and with the fast growing number of systems, I couldn't handle it this way anymore. So I stopped making updates.
Anyway..
Christian Sturm has made the very helpful tool "Exoplant-O-Mat" for importing the data from the "Open Exoplanet Catalogue"
http://www.openexoplanetcatalogue.com into GUIDE. Unfortunately the software and help file is in German only.
http://www.lx200.de/tools_exomat.htmlBut if you want to import the data into GUIDE only, it is easy to handle:
Under "Download Adresse" you'll see the link to the datafile from "Open Exoplanet Dataset".
Behind the address you can mark "Auch in lokalen Ordner kopieren" (Save it at local directory too).
If this is marked, a file will be created in the directory of "Exoplanet-O-Mat". If not marked, the file has to be downloaded again after the software has been closed.
Below the table you'll read "GUIDE Programmordner" - that's the directory where you want to save your GUIDE data set. You have to enter the path to your GUIDE directory.
Press the button "Lade Systeme von OEC" (Download systems from OEC).
It takes some time, then table of systems will appear.
Now press button "Speichere GUIDE Anwenderdatei" (Save file for GUIDE)
Under the user-datasets you'll find "Planetsystems OEC" at GUIDE. There you can set the display options.
Now you can display the positions of the systems at GUIDE with some basic information. I don't know if there will be a future version of Exoplanet-O-Mat, which will show more info.
I hope I could help you,
Oliver
