Re: [guide-user] IAU-approved Star Names as of 24.11.2016

Hi Jari,

Sounds like an excellent idea. When I click on that link, though, I get
stopped with a request for a user ID and password?

The list looks to be mostly "classical" names, with a few such as Copernicus
and Cervantes of modern origin.

I'm a little surprised that the IAU decided to officially name stars. Perhaps
they thought this would be a good opportunity to remind people that you can't
"buy" a star, a scam which has really annoyed them :

They can now say: "These stars have official names. That's all there are.
No, you can't buy one."
