Roger - it wasn't clear to me how you copied the files from the DVD to your UCAC4 folder.  You shouuld copy the entire contents of DVD side 1 into the UCAC4 folder.  There will be a number of files and folders.  In particular there are two folders: u4b and u4i.  u4b contains the zone files plus some supplementary files to, among other things,  provide Hipparchos and Tycho2 data to fill in the bright stars that were saturated in the UCAC data.

Side 2 contains a single folder, u4b with the rest of the zone files.  Copy all of the files in this folder into the u4b folder on your UCAC4 folder on the hard drive.

Then, Denis' instruction should work.

John

Hi Keith, Bill,

Just received and installed Guide 9.1. Transferred the UCAC4 data (z001 to z900) from DVD to a file D:\UCAC4. Downloaded the tdf to point to that folder. Also put a pointer to that file in Guide.dat. Toggled UCAC4 on in Extras.

Having done all that I don't see anything that looks like UCAC4 data when I click on a star. I confirmed that the star was in the UCAC4 catalogue via Vizier.

Learned a lot about Permissions though!!!
