USER-ADDED NOTES:

Actually, copying NGC.NOT (and other .NOT files) from the \TEXT
directory of the Guide CD to your hard drive, in your Guide
directory, _will_ add notes for some objects. But if you edit (for
example) NGC.NOT, you'll see that, at least at present, only a very
few objects have notes: galaxies in which one or more supernovae have
been seen. I generated this as basically an example of how note files
look. (For an example, click on NGC 23, and ask for 'more info'.
There will be a few lines discussing a supernova seen in that galaxy
in 1955.)

James Fitzl pointed out to me that the 'help' screen has an 'edit'
option. Clicking on this causes Notepad (or your text editor of choice)
to come up, and allows you to edit the help text (or glossary text, or
table text). I had not really intended to post this change, because
one key feature of it doesn't work yet: if you edit such notes, the
changes aren't saved anywhere. So don't expect much out of it just yet!

STAR COLORS:

Yes, I've seen odd situations in Unix (and Windows) where you run
out of color entries. But this happens in 256-color modes. As far as
I know, such things can't happen in 16-bit and higher modes. So
something else is going on here. It's hard for me to see how it could
be anything but a device driver bug, but Denis' comment that he's
tried several different drivers makes that hard to believe, too.

CLEARING USNO-A1.0/A2.0 DATA

The suggestion Hartwig made (of deleting the file A10.DAT) will work.
Or, if you specify a 0' by 0' area in the "Get Ax.0 Data" dialog, the
data will be cleared.
