Thanks for mentioning this. It caused me to realize that I never _did_
document how to do that.
To get URAT1 to display, you need the most recent update from
http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm
(which I realize you already have). After that, all you have to is to either
put the URAT1 files into the Guide folder, or tell Guide where you've put URAT1.
The way to do that (much as with UCAC) is to edit 'guide.dat' and enter a line
such as
URAT1_PATH=d:\urat1
Incidentally, for those wondering what URAT1 is: it is a recently-released
follow-up star catalog to UCAC4. Its advantages over UCAC4 are that it gives
more recent data (from 2012.3 to 2014.6), so that errors due to proper motion
are less, and it goes a good bit fainter than UCAC did. It has about 228
million objects in it, most of which are stars. A "readme" file is at
http://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/viz-bin/Cat?I/329
One rather large down side is that it covers only the northern hemisphere,
with some coverage down to declination -24.8. The telescope was set up at
Flagstaff, Arizona, and either has been moved or will be moved to Chile to
get the other half of the sky.
The actual data files are here (note that the total size is about 18.2 GBytes) :
ftp://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/pub/cats/I/329/URAT1/v12/
Incidentally, if you're a programmer with a desire to access the data,
this may be of use to you :
