Bill,

I changed my video driver to see if my system was the problem. Same problem
returned when using 16 bit video mode. I have noticed that galaxies and
their labels stayed the same, only faint stars go to a gray color. As soon
as I turn the isophotes off, the problem disappears. I have not encountered
this problem in 32 bit video mode. I have downloaded the latest update but
no improvement, same problem exists with the same modes.
