Hi Ned,
Um. Well, _that's_ a little puzzling. People were
occasionally being asked for the Guide DVD _before_ I posted
the first update to 9.0. It was related to two instances of
Guide being started; the program was trying to access a file
from each instance and conflicting.
You could get around this by putting the Guide DVD in the
drive. Guide would then be satisfied and start normally; you
would then run Extras... Install to Hard Drive, toggle an item
or two, click OK, and Guide would be reassured that it really
did have all the data it needed. I gather you don't have the
DVD sitting on a shelf somewhere?
Just to check: when you copied the contents to your Guide9
folder, were you warned about overwriting existing files? If
not, I'd wonder if the files went to the right folder... they
really should clobber existing files.
I'd also suggest you e-mail your current 'startup.mar' and
'temp_mar.txt' files to me. I may be able to look at them and
puzzle out what's going on here... possibly a corrupted file.
