No; you can have both Guide 8 and 9 installed on the same machine
without conflict, and I think some people do. (I've done it, so
that I can test/support both versions.)

However, if you have Guide 9 installed, there's not much benefit
in having Guide 8 installed as well. As Arild suggested, you can
uninstall just by deleting the Guide 8 folder. No version of Guide
has used the registry or put things anywhere except the Guide
folder, which does simplify things a lot!
