Hello all,
I've had a good bit of discussion on the problem of where
we go now that Yahoo! is tossing us out. My thanks to those
who commented, many of whom did so because they're running
into exactly the same headaches.
I think I've got a decent solution, and this list has the
dubious honor of being the guinea pig. I'll hold off on the
other three Yahoo! lists I manage (guide-user, neo_followup,
astrometry_distro) for a day or two, in case feedback here
causes me to reconsider how to move the other three lists.
One of my major concerns was that our posts would all
vanish. Fortunately, it turned out to be quite possible to
download all of them, and they're all now available at
https://www.projectpluto.com/groups/find_orb/index.htm
Note that at present, this is just an index to all current
posts, and the posts themselves are as they came from Yahoo!
with the advertising and Yahoo!-related cruft deleted. (Which
makes them a lot faster to load and reduces the amount of crud
splashed on your screen.) It's somewhat primitive right now.
The new Find_Orb mailing list is at
https://projectpluto.com/mailman/listinfo/find_orb_projectpluto.com
Go there, and you can enter your e-mail address and
name (if desired) to subscribe. Future posts will appear at
http://projectpluto.com/pipermail/find_orb_projectpluto.com/
Please let me know what you think (ideally, on the new
list.)
Thanks! -- Bill
